Grandma's Boy is the funny one, NOT Mama's Boy

Over the weekend I rented the movie Mama’s Boy because it looked funny and the Blockbuster was out of Grandma’s Boy and Silicon Valley, my other two choices. There was Jon Heder from Napoloean Dynamite playing the lead along with Jeff Daniels of Dumb and Dumber, so I figured I was in for some laughs. I was not.

Plot was based on this “mama’s boy” Jon Heder, 29 years old living at home and loving it. His world is crashed apart when his mom begins dating a self-help guru Jeff Daniels. The movie dragged on for an hour with Jon Heder trying to keep his mom (Diane Keating) from dating Jeff Daniels in an unfunny almost sad manner. I think Jon Heder was going for a more serious character in this one and it just didn't work out. Lots of funny people but no funny parts.

I would love to ruin the ending so that no one will see bother ever renting this, but I have no idea how it ended. I decided to turn it off before the last half hour drained on my life force. And seriously I am one of those people that always HAVE to see the end of a movie. Don’t waste your time on Mama’s Boy, it doesn’t deserve to have a title alike Grandma’s Boy.
