Supporting Evidence

That's right, at this moment, I am on the phone on hold with Countrywide. I recently received a Notice of Intent to Accelerate, or notice of soon-to-come foreclosure, on a loan that nothing is owed on. Yep, quoting the letter I received, "The loan is in serious default because the required payments have not been made." The amount due? $0.00. Apparently I am in default for owing $0.00. My favorite line in the letter is this, "The default will not be considered cured unless Countrywide receives 'good funds' in the amount $0.00 on or before November 2, 2008." Do they read this crap before they send it out?

Hang on, customer service has answered...

Apparently they are researching my account and now want me to send in copies of the checks that I already mailed that have been deducted from my account. Due to the fact that they purchased my loan, my first two payments were sent to my original lender. Countrywide apparently has not received them since purchasing my loan. So I am required to sit on the phone for what has now been 40 minutes and then get out my check stubs, make copies, and mail them out. All because Countrywide doesn't have their papers in order. I don't think so. I am now arguing with the customer service rep and being transferred to a supervisor.

Hold music sucks...

In what appears to be complete incompetence on the part of Countrywide, they need me to obtain the proof that I have made payments on my loan. Don't they communicate with the companies they buy loans from? So after sitting on the phone for 50 minutes (now) and wasting away my lunch break, I will have to get copies of checks faxed to them.

Wow, I am sure excited to be a new Countrywide customer. They better find some way to compensate my account for the time I have wasted.
