Supporting Evidence
I recently ordered Clearwire internet service. I had spoken with two Clearwire sales representatives before purchasing and signing their contract to verify the connection speeds would be fast enough for online gaming. The whole system seemed way too slow to me, but the sales people both assured me it would be more than fast enough and be great for gaming. The router arrived two days ago and I hooked it up to my Xbox 360 and tried it out with some Halo 3. I lagged in every single game. The connection was so poor, it made playing near impossible. I tried moving the router to a couple different places because it is in essence an antenna, to see if it would make a difference. I had full reception on the router but it was still running at terrible speeds. Calling to cancel my service, they reps ran through all their normal customer retention mumbo jumbo for about 20 minutes before I was finally able to get the service canceled and a UPS label sent to me to send back the router. I was really hoping Clearwire would work because it is a simple system and cheaper than many of the other ISP's out there. Now I know why. Do not get Clearwire if you intend to use it for gaming. There is a pic of the router below and a video showing speed tests for the Clearwire service.
