My boyfriend and I stopped by Brix Wine cafe the other day after having a couple drinks at my apartment. We were both just a little hungry so we figured a glass of wine and an app would fill us both up. The interiors of the place look really upscale, but I was comfortable in a sweatshirt, flip-flops and jeans. We sat at the bar and the bartender asked us what type of wine we liked. I like buttery chards and he brought me one that was perfect and turned out to be local; Chateau Ste. Michelle 06'. He matched my boyfriend up with a red equally well. I was extremely impressed. With most bartenders I have to explain a few times what flavors I prefer before they pair me up with a glass I like. Finding a perfect match on the first try for me and my man showed some deep knowledge of not only wine, but also what the restaurant has on hand on the bartenders part.
We ordered the Seared Scallops with Orange-Beurre Blanc (the middle picture and it looked just like that, I found it on their website!). They were cooked perfectly but way too salty. I usually expect a more mild seasoning on such a delicate seafood. I'm not sure what the Beurre Blanc was but it tasted like mashed potatoes, which always bodes well with me. I would definitely go back for another glass of wine at the bar, but the food was pretty pricey so I'm not sure if I would chance an entire meal there.

Seafood is not difficult to season, you are a smart girl in knowing not to go back for a full meal.
