Supporting Evidence
I bought Beck’s new album “Modern Guilt” and decided it is by FAR his best. Most the songs have a late 60’s psychedelic feel and there are a lot of political and environmental references in the lyrics. He goes so far as to have a song called “Chemtrails” about the hippie paranoia of government placed jet trails. According to Rolling Stone his spiritual mid-life crisis is evident but I wouldn’t say it is obvious. If you have heard “Gamma Ray” on the radio and liked it and also enjoy slower Modest Mouse-like jams you will probably love this one. Some of the songs can almost make you trip just listening with your eyes closed; the music literally makes you feel as though you’re floating through the riffs. It’s a good album to chill and listen to all the way through on a lazy Sunday and will likely get a lot of play in my car when the clouds come out later this fall. The rant below was on the albums website and the inside the jacket and is crazy but chill once you figure it out.
