My friends from college and I always used to joke that when we saw an incoming envelope in the mail from AES Services we would secretly hope it was for another housemate. It's going on to this day.Only now is the company crossing over to online payments, email, and even phone bill pay. It's always been interesting that a college debt consolidation company was so archaic in their methods. Oxymoronic even.
And while still paying my student loans while living in Seattle, from time to time, I don't get my letter with my receipt from the last month's payment, and with it, the form for the next month's bill. I could change over to automatic debit (yes! a service they only recently implemented) but I continue to assure them that the high fees they charge outweighs the monthly convenience of this service should my account bounce on the payment.
Every month its a process, a chore and a disservice to myself as I wonder if I'll get my form. This morning, after waiting on hold for 7 minutes, (this one of many in a long line of excuses over recent months) the customer service rep suggested that my bill was lost in the mail because "Well, I know you guys had some flooding out there..." What? So that's why my letter was lost for the 3rd time in a year? It's weird, somehow I manage to correctly send my envelope and they've never missed a payment. But it's not fool proof the other way around. It just seems like a very disorganized, organization. Oxymoronic.
