Supporting Evidence

My daughter has been informing me about silicon cookware she got as a present from her mother-in-law for almost a year now. I found the utensils interesting, but could not fathom using something that is implanted into people’s chests in my kitchen.

For my birthday a couple weeks ago she bought me a bright red spatula and muffin tray made out of the material. The color was very vibrant and matched my red kitchen perfectly, but I had not tried them out until over the last weekend when I made my Mookies, a mix between a chocolate muffin and a chocolate chip cookie. I was surprised with how easy they were to cook with. The spatula, even if placed directly on heat, did not become hot. When I removed the first batch of Mookies out of the oven to load it with my next, the tray had cooled by the time I set it on the counter.

I will probably purchase a large cooking spoon set shortly in the red silicon. If you are a cook that constantly leaves your spoons in the pot while cooking or neglects exactly where you set your utensils down, they will be very useful for you. I figure they will pay for themselves in burn spray eventually.

Sounds like useful stuff, aside from the obvious application.

I love them too, the muffins and cakes pop right out of the molds without nasty crumb residue.

I think my grandma has a set of those. She was telling me something about silicon and I doubt she was talking about the liquid kind.
