What Happened Safeway?

Why has the standard for Safeway produce dropped lately? I came in twice last week to grab peaches the first time and then some celery, peaches and plums later in the week and was disappointed in both instances. I usually stick to the Houghton Market or a more local grocer, but I was out of town and the only grocer my friend knew of was Safeway.

The peaches were not juicy at all and had very little flavor. The celery we used a bit of for 'ants on a log' and left the rest for a stew later in the week. Once we tried to use them they were bad and it had only been a couple days. They were in the vegatable tray the entire time, so it could not have been fresh when I purchased it. The plums were alright, nothing to speak of.

What happened Safeway?
