I go to Blue Boy whenever I get a nice weekend or on a weekday when I have time to make the drive. They are located in the outskirts of Monroe, northeast of the city. The course is very well maintained in comparison to other courses in the area and priced just a bit higher because of it. I think it is about $50 for two people and a cart to play 18.The course is only a nine hole course, but playing it twice is a treat because the holes are all so diverse and challenging, once you get around the second time you are just trying to refine the drive you made the last time around. There are no par five holes, but the par fours make up for that. Most of the par four holes are long and challenging, engaging everything from doglegs, ponds and island-like greens surrounded by steep drops. Probably my favorite part though is on the right on hole four there is a farm that has everything from ostriches to kangaroos and so while trying to find my ball I always try to sneak a peak at the animals.
I am not very advanced, but the advanced golfers I have brought out there have really enjoyed the course and returned. Do not let the Doc’s Café sign fool you, they do not serve food except chips, soda and beer, so if you usually get hungry while playing, be sure to bring your own food. They are family run and started so if you enjoy supporting local businesses give these guys a try, you won’t be disappointed.
