About the Composite
The Consupo Index works in part like the current stock markets. Each company that is entered into the Consupo database will have a Consupo Stock Value (CSV). The CSV is an accumulation of each company's feedback from Consupo community members. The CSV is determined by your positive (Props case) and negative (Beef case) feedback. Each time a case is created about a company their CSV is affected either positively (Props case) or negatively (Beef case). In addition, the CSV is affected by the overall rating that each case receives from Consupo community members. The higher the rating is for each case the more effect the case - either positive or negative - will have on the overall value of the company's CSV.
Using the Composite
The Consupo Index is intended to be used as a tool by responsible consumers in order to learn more about a company that they are about to, or currently are, doing business with. In many cases it may be the determining factor in deciding to buy a product or service from a specific company.
The Consupo Index can be used by both site visitors and Consupo community members as a reference tool. At Consupo, we hope that by holding companies accountable for their actions we can encourage them to do business in an honest and straightforward fashion. When good companies are praised and bad companies are brought to light, consumers benefit, and therefore can buy with greater confidence.
